3Azerbaijan welcomes cancellation by the Constitutional Council of France of the bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called ‘Armenian genocide’ earlier passed in the Senate of the country.
The statement came from chief of the public policy department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov.
He said this is a result of measures taken by the governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey in different structures of the two fraternal states across the world, including in France.
From the moment when the parliament of France adopted this decision and even earlier, different structures representing Azerbaijan and Turkey including the state structures of the Azerbaijani embassy to European countries, representative offices in the Council of Europe, OSCE and other structures, diaspora organizations, our friends in international organizations held the relevant work which resulted in the cancellation of this anti-democratic law, based on lies", Hasanov said.
"In this view, we congratulate Turkey and Azerbaijan. I believe that this is the first success of such a joint activity of these states that we have ever witnessed’, Hasanov said.
According to him, the decision of the Constitutional Council of France will influence the countries that are trying to assess the so-called ‘Armenian genocide’ through politicization of this issue.
Hasanov also voiced hope that in the future any historical events will be assessed not by politicians through politicizing these events but by historians after due researches.
"In this case, different countries will not use them as a political factor", Hasanov said.
As for the so-called ‘Armenian genocide’, the deputy chief of the Presidential Administration noted that there was nothing of the kind.
"This is a fiction, part of the anti-Turkic activity. They (the Armenian side) seek to hold their anti-Turkic activity worldwide by using the fictional history", Hasanov said.
He said the cancellation of the decision passed by the National Assembly and Senate of the country in the Constitutional Council is the result of the joint activity of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
According to Hasanov, the work with French deputies who voted against the adoption of this bill, collection of their signatures against this document demanded serious efforts.
A group of deputies who joined the group of friendship with Azerbaijan, including French deputies representing the party of Nicolas Sarkozy, were invited to the country at that period. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met them.
The decision of France on this law received different assessments of the head of the state, the parliament of the country and presidential administration.
As a result, the number of people who believe that this decision is wrong went up in France and this unfair law was annulled.
