Azerbaijani diaspora in US launches a campaign to get Matthew Bryza finally confirmed as US envoy to Baku
Azerbaijani diaspora in the United States has launched a campaign to get Matthew Bryza finally confirmed as US envoy to Baku, according to the US Azeris Network (USAN).

"Armenians are working to get Bryza return to America in January 2012, seeking thereby to paralyze the mission of the US ambassador to Azerbaijan and to show that the Armenian lobby has a veto in relation to who will be the next U.S. ambassador to Baku," USAN said in a statement.

On 29 December, 2010 President Barack Obama appointed Bryza ambassador to Azerbaijan bypassing the Senate, which blocked his nomination under influence of pro-Armenian senators for a few months. If the U.S. Senate does not approve Bryza's nomination before the end of the year, he will be called back.

The Azerbaijani community says in a statement that the Armenian lobby is making every effort to ensure that the Senate rejected Bryza’s candidacy.

"They were able to achieve this in case of U.S. ambassador to Armenia, and now they want the same in case of head of diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan," the USAN emphasizes.

The authors of the statement urge Azerbaijanis living in the US to send a letter to senators in support of Ambassador Bryza, thereby preventing the campaign of Armenians.
