Parliamentary elections to be held on November 1 in Azerbaijan will be free and fair, SIA reports that Jason Katz, the principal of Tool Shed Group told secki-2015.az.
Tool Shed Group is a consultancy that advises foreign governments, NGOs and corporations.
I’ve been watching previous elections, and I think that Azerbaijan will have free and fair elections, Katz said.
According to Katz, the most important think with free and open society is establishment of civic institutions.
Katz stressed that it was a huge strength of Azerbaijan, which being a young country was rapidly establishing the institutions that enabled democracy.
It is also a fantastic thing to be in Azerbaijan and watch democracy here, Katz said.
Talking about US-Azerbaijan bilateral relations, Katz said that they were good.
The Unites States recognizes Azerbaijan as one of the key contributors to European energy security, according to Katz.
US also recognize that Azerbaijan is one of the few nations with Muslim majority that we can actually call friend, Katz said.
