Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the 21st meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tehran.
Mr Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan welcomes the direction of recent negotiations in Geneva on Iranian nuclear program between Iran and P5+1 towards a positive course.
The Iranian Minister congratulated the Azerbaijani people on successful presidential election.
The two ministers discussed the Azerbaijan-Iran cooperation in a variety of fields, including energy, culture, and education.
The FMs agreed to hold a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation in near future.
They also exchanged views on the situation on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
Mammadyarov invited the Iranian counterpart to visit Azerbaijan.
