The next summit of the heads of state of the Caspian littoral states will be held in mid-2014 in Astrakhan, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov addressing the 34th meeting of the working group for preparation of the Convention on the Caspian legal status in Moscow.
Lavrov also noted that the conference of ministers on the Caspian problems may be held in spring next year.
The Russian minister said that the legal status of the Caspian Sea should be determined solely by the coastal states.
The previous Caspian summit was held in Baku in 2010.
