The Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg has organized an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event, held within the PACE spring session, was attended by senior officials of PACE, members of the Azerbaijani delegation to the structure, the parliamentarians of different countries, members of the French Parliament, as well as diplomats, scientists and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
The event was opened by Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Emin Ayyubov, who spoke about the life and work of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, noting that Heydar Aliyev, as the founder and saviour of the Azerbaijani state, made a great contribution to the strengthening of statehood.
"Today Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev is successfully developing, continuing the political line of Heydar Aliyev," said the ambassador.
Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov noted that Heydar Aliyev, who returned to politics for the second time after the insistence of the Azerbaijani people, brought the country out of crisis. "We can say that every day, month and year of his reign had historically important events for the country. Naturally, the name of Heydar Aliyev is associated with the integration of Azerbaijan to Europe, international organizations, including the Council of Europe," Sayidov said.
