'EU is interested in the peaceful development of the South Caucasus, and this is a strategic issue for Europe.'
The parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must refrain from actions and statements that could lead to tension in the conflict area, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said.
Poland stands for peaceful settlement of the conflict, he said at a joint press conference with his Armenian, Bulgarian and Swedish counterparts in Yerevan.
According to Armenian media, the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Nikolay Mladenov said that the EU is interested in the peaceful development of the South Caucasus, and this is a strategic issue for Europe.
He called for peace and conflict resolution based on the principles proposed by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk. Mladenov said that over the past period there has been some escalation of the situation, due to which he called upon the parties to refrain from actions that lead to escalation of tensions.
Noting that within the framework of a regional visit, he, with his Swedish and Polish colleagues, also visited Azerbaijan, Mladenov said that based on the discussions in Yerevan and Baku it will be possible to identify directions that may help reduce escalations.
