Strong army greatly strengthens Azerbaijan's position in the negotiations- President
The certain stagnation observed in the Karabakh peace talks, and in general the status quo in the conflict should be eliminated, resulting in withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the territory of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev has stated.
"Changing the status quo means the withdrawal of Armenian occupying forces from captured lands. Of course, with the withdrawal of occupying forces from these lands, a positive trend will grow more in the negotiation process, and soon this issue will be solved," President Aliyev told the extended meeting Cabinet of Ministers on the results of socioeconomic development in the first half of 2012, held on 11 July.
At the same time the president added that Azerbaijan continues to pay great attention to military construction. "Along with all the political and diplomatic efforts, we, of course, strengthen our military power, have created a strong army," he said. "A strong army greatly strengthens our position in the negotiations," the President stressed.
According to the president, this factor, as well as the expansion of economic and political opportunities of Azerbaijan makes a fair solution of the Karabakh problem inevitable.
Summing up the cabinet meeting, the president expressed regret that some pro-Armenian forces of the world launched an anti-Azerbaijani information campaign during the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, which, however, was very successful. "We, the state of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people were once again victorious. Because we are strong, and our strength lies in the support of the people. And we are right," the head of state said, adding that the right-hand side is always seeking justice.
