The last event of the 10th International Conference of Ombudsmen entitled "The protection of human rights in emergency situations: problems and opportunities" was held in Baku.
SIA reports that the different issues were discussed at the 10th International Conference held by the Office of Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsperson) in Azerbaijan. The participants of the conference stressed the necessity of the development of cooperation and adopted Baku Declaration.
This declaration was signed by representatives of Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, China, Estonia, Iran, Canada, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, The Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russian Federation and their subjected countries – Republic of Dagestan, Astrakhan, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Krasnodar, Lipetsk, Moscow, Samara, Saratov, Sverdlovsk, as well as Serbiya, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey and Japan.
The declaration includes such items as the support of new norms, establishment of new principals and the popularization of protection of human rights in emergency situations, the adoption of effective national legislative acts and law-drafts in the sphere of protection of human rights and the necessity of cooperation of national human rights institutions with parliament, state organizations, civil society, also the development of the cooperation with non-governmental organizations, including the strengthening the cooperation and exchange of information and experience within International Institute of Ombudsman, European Institute of Ombudsman and the Asian Association of Ombudsman.
Sessions entitled "The National Human Protection Institute, the role of strategic plan in the development of promotion possibilities and the protection of human rights" and "The regional and global cooperation for the sake of efficient protection of human rights" were conducted and the lectures as "The insurance of human rights and the legislative improvement by Ombudsman", "Emergency situations and the elimination of its results", "The Protection of Ecological Rights in Emergency Situations", "The Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in changing world" were heard within the conference on June 18.
The Council of Directors of Asian Association of Ombudsman also held a session in Baku within the conference.
