US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations supports Morningstar's candidacy
The US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations supported Richard Morningstar's candidacy to the post of ambassador to Azerbaijan at the meeting held on 19 June.
At the meeting chaired by Senator John Kerry, Senate members unanimously advised to view this issue at a full meeting of the Senate. A decision of the Senate at the full meeting will be the last step for the approval of the Morningstar's candidacy.
Differently from the previous time, at this meeting, Committee members Barbara Boxer and Robert Menendez who make decisions under the influence of Armenian electorate didn't use the right to veto against the candidate.
Boxer called Morningstar to "prevent aggressive acts of the Azerbaijani government against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh" should he is approved to the post of ambassador to Azerbaijan.
