Last year, several effective and preventive anti-intelligence measures were made against intelligence and other acts of foreign special services in Azerbaijan.
National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov told the statement in an article published in Azerbaijan newspaper under title 'Guarding national security.
According to the minister, criminal cases were launched over 2 servicemen engaged in intelligence upon the instruction of foreign special services under Article "High Treason" of the Criminal Code.
As a result of anti-intelligence measures of the National Security Ministry, two separate groups, overall 24 persons engaged in espionage against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and national security, high treason, as well as in preparation of terror acts were exposed.
The combat against terrorism was conducted successfully also last year. Two internationally wanted persons which participated in armed groups against coalition forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan were busted as a result of complex measures
