Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, colonel-general Safar Abiyev received head of the United Committee of heads of the staffs of the Pakistani troops, army general Haled Shemin Vay.
According to spokesman for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, colonel-lieutenant Eldar Sabiroglu, after the visit to the grave of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, the Pakistani guests were cordially welcomed in the Defence Ministry.
The meeting participants exchanged views about cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and prospects of its development and decided to create work groups to execute definite tasks.
Abiyev told the Pakistani guest about the military and political situation in the region, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh.
Abiyev said that Azerbaijani lands remain under Armenian occupation.
"We stand for peace in the region but for the liberation of the occupied lands and restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan we are ready to take other necessary actions", Abiyev said.
In turn, Haled Shemin Vay noted that Pakistan will always be next to Azerbaijan and will always support our country.
