Italian Azerbaijanis voice protest against French Parliament’s decision
Azerbaijanis living in Italy strictly condemn the bill criminalizing denial of so called ‘Armenian genocide’ adopted by the French National Assembly.

According to the State Committee for work with diaspora, the appeal of the Azerbaijani-Italian cultural assembly directed to the French National Assembly and Senate says:

"This bill, grossly infringing freedom of expression due to unconfirmed events in 1915, is unacceptable for such country as France having multi-century traditions of democracy".

The appeal noted that historical events should be dealt with by researchers of history and adopting the bill without any basis and thus accusing the Turkish nation is a decision coming from political motives.

The decision of the French Parliament will not serve peace and agreement between the nations.

The appeal recommends the French Parliament to discuss the genocide committed by Armenian against Azerbaijan 20 years ago, which still has living witnesses.

The document underlines that Azerbaijanis living in Italy strictly condemn the decision of the French Parliament and the current bill will have negative impact on French-Turkish and French-Azerbaijani relations.
