The Parliament’s plenary session has adopted a bill to ratify agreement
on 'Mutual elimination of visa for persons owning Azerbaijani and
Columbian intergovernmental diplomatic, official and service passports'.
Information about the bill was delivered by deputy chairman of the
Parliament’s Foreign and Interparliamentary Committee Sevinj Fataliyeva.
Fataliyeva in her speech said that in the recent years, relations
between Azerbaijan and Latin America countries have developed in
different spheres, in diplomatic sphere in particular. She noted that
presence of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic corpuses in many Latin America
countries is the result of this development:
"Signing and ratification of the agreement with Columbia is one of examples of Azerbaijan’s successful policy".
Speaking about the agreement, MP Asim Mollazade said that Azerbaijani
embassies and representative in Latin America countries work in hard
conditions but do a lot of work.
"These countries have rich and big Armenian diasporas. They don’t’ stop
even a minute in their activities against Azerbaijan. They even planned
recently to arrange the visit of Bako Saakyan, leader of separatist
regime, Argentina and his speech at the Parliament. But their plan
failed as a result of painstaking work and attempts of Azerbaijani
Embassy in that country.
Moreover, Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico has done a lot and was engaged
in spreading Azerbaijani realities. In this respect, I hope that our
embassy expected to be established in Brazil will make be successful.
With intensive work of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic corpuses, Latin American countries will change their view to Azerbaijan".
Speaker Ogtay Asadov in his turn noted that the Parliament’s
interparliamentary friendship groups in these countries also contributed
in this regard.
"The Parliament has friendship groups with many of Latin America
countries. They also play a significant role in improving relations
between our countries. For instance, these days the delegation of
Mexican Parliament’ Azerbaijani friendship group are visiting our
country. We had very interesting meetings with them".
After discussion, The Parliament ratified intergovernmental agreements with Columbia and Montenegro.
