'Azerbaijan
does not share French President Nicolas Sarkozy's views regarding the issues of
'genocide' and opening of borders.'
The statement came from
head of the public and political affairs department at the Presidential
Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov.
Commenting on a statement threatening Turkey
made by French president in Yerevan,
the official said that this issue is an outcome of an international policy.
'Baku has always equally treated interests of
both Turkey and Azerbaijan in relation to developments in the South Caucasus and international matters.'
With Sarkozy's visit to Azerbaijan
and the entire region, France's
efforts are addition to Russia's
efforts to solve Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as part of the OSCE Minsk Group,
Hasanov added.
'Russia
was actively dealing with resolution of the Karabakh conflict in separate. We
believe that now France’s
active involvement with this matter will make the United States to actively engage in
this issue, too. All three countries want to change the status quo. To change
status quo means to change a situation around Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, to
ensure territorial integrity of Azerbaijan
and to implement the four UN Security Council resolutions'.
I believe French President's visit and his views about a need to change the
situation will contribute to peace in South Caucasus,
Hasanov noted.
