The French Navy will soon deploy unmanned mine-clearing boats, Admiral Nicolas Vaujour, Chief of Naval Staff, announced it on LCI television, SİA reports.

"We are capable of clearing mines from certain areas and can project our mine warfare capabilities using minesweepers. Today, all of this is being droneized, and soon we will have unmanned aerial vehicles designed for mine warfare," the admiral said.

He mentioned the possibility of sending such boats to the shores of the United Arab Emirates to clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz, should this be required by escalating tensions around Iran. He added that such boats could be useful in the Black Sea after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
