An attack by Russian forces in Ukraine’s Donetsk region has killed at least 21 people and left many others injured, Donetsk regional head Vadym Filashkin said in a statement, SİA reports, citing foreign media.
The official reported that Russia struck the village of Yarova around 12:30 local time.
Filashkin stated that the attack targeted civilians waiting in line for pensions: “This is not war, it is a clear act of terror.” Emergency response teams were dispatched to the site, providing medical assistance to the wounded.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike on social media and called on the international community to take strong action against Russia: “Civilians were directly targeted in this ruthless airstrike. The world cannot remain indifferent. The U.S., Europe, and the G20 must respond appropriately.”
Yarova village is located approximately 20 km from Slovyansk and just 9 km from the front line.
