In Kampala, the capital of Uganda, 18 people have lost their lives as a result of a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall.
Irene Nakasiita, spokesperson for the Uganda Red Cross Society, provided an update on the ongoing search and rescue operations at a waste collection site that collapsed in the Kiteezi area following the torrential rains on August 9, SIA reports.
Irene Nakasiita reported that during the search and rescue operations in the area, the bodies of 18 individuals were recovered. She noted that the ongoing rains have hindered the completion of the operations thus far.
