Four Indian residents arrested for volunteering to participate in Russia's war against Ukraine

According to foreign sources, four Indian residents in several states in their country have been arrested for voluntarily enlisting in Russia's war against Ukraine, SIA reports.

The individuals reportedly continued their search for potential enlistment opportunities by advertising "high-paying jobs in Russia" through social media and local recruiters. They promised young people assistance in gaining admission to Russia's private universities and extending their visa duration free of charge.

They promised two Indian residents positions as "assistants" in the Russian army. Upon agreeing, they were brought to Russia and sent first to military training, then against their will, to the combat zone, SIA refers to CBI.

The main participant in the scheme was Nijil Cobi Bensam, an Indian citizen from the state of Tamil Nadu. Previously working as a translator in Russia, he was provided with visas and tickets to Russia by the Indian resident Antony Michael Elecovan, who lives in the state of Mumbai.

Both individuals were detained and arrested at the end of April.
