Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau welcomed President Joe Biden Friday for his first visit to Canada as president. The two are set to announce a deal to stem the flow of asylum seekers at unofficial border crossings from the U.S. to Canada.
Stating that the Canada cooperates with the United States in the field of security in the context of changing geopolitics, along with the fight against economic issues and climate change, ‘We have no greater friend and ally than the United States’ Justin Trudeau said.
Expressing that they feel lucky to be on the northern border of Canada, Biden emphasized that they share the same values with this country. "We disagree on some issues from time to time, but there is almost no difference between the democratic values we share, and that really makes a big difference," said Joseph Biden.
The leaders later had a bilateral meeting.
