Tbilisi offers assistance to the Yerevan-Baku peace dialogue

High-ranking officials of Georgia have repeatedly stated that Tbilisi is ready to mediate in negotiations between Baku and Yerevan. SIA reports that Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili has offered Georgia's platform for peace dialogue to Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"Tbilisi is ready to be a place where our neighbors can have a calm and peaceful dialogue in order to achieve concrete results from the negotiations and bring peace and stability to our region," he told reporters.

According to the minister, the meeting of the parties can be held at any time and in any place without preconditions.

He reminded that a concrete result was achieved based on the results of negotiations with the participation of the Prime Minister of Georgia last year, and a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries was held in Georgia a few months ago as well.

Earlier, on October 6, 2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Ilham Aliyev, President Emmanuel Macron and the head of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel had a quadrilateral meeting in Prague. As a result, the statement was accepted. The statement says that Armenia and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, through which both sides recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The next meeting of the delimitation commission will be held in Brussels until the end of October. Armenia has agreed to promote an EU civilian mission on the border with Azerbaijan (for at least two months).
