The death toll from the catastrophic flooding in Nepal has risen to 629, while about 2,426 people remain missing in Nepal and on the Chinese side of the border.
According to SİA, the figures were provided by Nepal's Disaster Management Agency.
Earlier reports put the death toll at 616.
In addition, 101 people are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
Nepal's Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle told Reuters that the country will require between $4 billion and $5 billion for post-flood reconstruction.
"This is only a preliminary estimate. The damage and losses are still being assessed," he said.
Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, for his part, said Nepal requires international assistance in specialized and technical areas, including rescuing people trapped in tunnels, restoring transport and communications infrastructure, identifying victims and conducting DNA testing.
The Nepalese government has also reversed its earlier decision not to accept international search-and-rescue teams.
According to media reports, the decision was made following diplomatic pressure from countries whose citizens remain missing.
A powerful flood struck northern Nepal on the morning of August 26. According to preliminary information, it was triggered by a snow-and-rock avalanche on the Nepal-China border, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing. Hundreds of people remain unaccounted for, including around 500 foreign nationals.
