The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to ban shipments of certain Canadian goods to the United States starting September 29, including some types of alcohol, dairy products, and motorcycles, SİA informs, citing documents published by the White House.
The documents note that the measures were taken due to "discriminatory actions" by the Canadian side in trade.
In addition, the US expanded the list of Canadian products subject to 50% tariffs, which will take effect on September 15. The updated list includes certain aluminum and steel products, as well as furniture and paper, while cement and industrial salt were excluded.
Earlier, on September 8, Trump instructed relevant US agencies to exclude Canadian products from public procurement plans worth $50 billion annually.
