Cavusoglu: Türkiye prepared road map on migrants

Türkiye has prepared a road map on migrants, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu said, SİA informs.

“We sent a large number of Afghan residents to their homeland, and we are sending them by airplanes even after the Taliban came to power.

Syrian migrants fled to Türkiye because of the civil war. 550,000 Syrian migrants have been sent back to their country,” Cavusoglu said. However, he stressed that this number is not enough and more migrants will be sent to their country:

“We must send them not only to safe areas but also to places controlled by the regime. That is, to the cities they came from.”

The minister said that they are working on a road map for the safe return of migrants and the creation of infrastructure: “Migrants will return, we will secure it, but we must do it in a way that befits human dignity.

The revitalization of political processes, the fight against terrorism, the cleansing of Syria from terrorists and the safe return of its citizens will be carried out. These are all related to each other.”

Cavusoglu said that the Syrian Kurds in Türkiye do not want to return to the place of terror and that they are facing the oppression of the PKK terrorist organization.

He noted that in order to prepare the infrastructure for the return of migrants and ensure life safety, the United Nations (UN) should participate in the process and the international community should support it.

Turkish foreign minister emphasized that many migrants who came to Türkiye illegally from Pakistan, African countries and other places were sent back to their countries.
