At the today meeting of Milli Mejlis the issue on election of the members and substitute members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was considered. Speaker of the parliament Ogtay Asadov told that 18-man CEC must consist of 6 representatives of the party holding the majority of seats in the parliament, 6 representatives of the parties holding the minority of seats in the parliament and 6 representatives of non-party parliamentarians.
The 18-man list includes Mazahir Panahov, Shaitdin Aliyev, Fuad Javadov, Ramiz Ibrahimov, Valida Kazimova and Gabil Orujov (from New Azerbaijan Party ), Mikayil Rahimli (United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party), Almas Gahramanli (Citizen Solidarity Party), Akif Gurbanov, Tamam Jafarli (Democratic Reforms Party), Bakhsheyish Asgarov (Great Establishment Party), Etibar Guliyev (Motherland Party), Natig Mammadov, Azer Tagiyev, Arifa Mukhtarova, Ilham Mammadov, Nizami Nadirov and Tofig Hasanov (candidates of non-party parliamentarians). Natig Mammadov’s candidacy was agreed with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Arifa Mukhtarova’s candidacy with the representatives of the parties of minority seats in the parliament.
