The spokesman of the Foreign Minister Elman Abdullayev commenting on the statements of the US Department of State told that the statement of the US Department of State on the situation with the human rights in the country is baseless, SIA reports.
The statement reads that such statements have a political subtext and are aimed at interfering with the internal affairs of Azerbaijan in order to put a political pressure on the country and do not reflect the reality.
Earlier spokeswoman for the US Department of State Jen Psaki called on the government of Azerbaijan to take immediate steps to protect basic liberties including freedom of expression, assembly.
