President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has always focused on needs of refugees and internally displaced persons.
The statement came from Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov at conference "Azerbaijan 2013: new targets, new successes".
According to him, over the past years, 76 settlements for refugees and IDPs were built.
"140,000 refugees and internally displaced persons have been housed. In 2003, the poverty rate among them was around 75%, but now it is down at 16 – 17%. In 2012, USD 1,300 was spent per refugee or displaced person. This is the largest number among all the conflict zones of the world - more than 2-3-fold," said Ali Hasanov.
