Azerbaijan has the largest army in the region and therefore it doesn’t need mobilization yet-Presidential Administration

Armenia is directly responsible for the latest tensions in the frontline because Armenia’s non-constructive position is the main factor which prevents the peace and stability in the region and delays the negotiation process", head of the political analysis and information department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Elnur Aslanov said.

Aslanov said that the developments showed again that as distinct from Azerbaijan, Armenia is interested in securing status quo. "Azerbaijan stated many times that the status quo is not an acceptable formula for the region because the status quo prevents the restoration of peace and stability. It doesn’t promote the development of the region. Azerbaijan stated many times that keeping the status quo as a major issue on the negotiations agenda is impossible. But Armenian leadership continues its non-constructive position. Armenia avoids the negotiations under the different pretences and shows that it is not interested in peace, stability in the region."

Answering the question about the possibility of mobilization in Azerbaijan due to the latest tensions in the frontline, Aslanov said that "Azerbaijan’s position is clear. Azerbaijan has the largest army in the region and therefore it doesn’t need mobilization yet".

The official also expressed opinion about the ideas characterizing the Russian missile tests after the Clinton’s visit to the region as a "cold war". "I don’t think so. It should be assessed as the measures taken by these countries to improve their military-technical potential."
