Very good dialogue formed while discussing the rights of child in Azerbaijan at UN- Bahar Muradova

Azerbaijan joined the UN Contention on the Rights of the Child still in 1992.

And our country joined the Convention's optional protocols, as well as the protocols on prevention of child trafficking, child prostitution and child pornography in 2002, Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova has said.

Addressing a round table dedicated to the final observations of the UN Committee on the Right of the Child addressed to the Azerbaijani state, held on 23 May at the Azerbaijani Parliament, the MP said pursuant to those optional protocols, the Azerbaijani side and parliament during that period coordinated the legislation on the rights of the child with those international documents and several successful results had been reached in that direction.

The vice speaker added that the Azerbaijani government also made positive steps to this end, and the last report in that direction was submitted to the 59th session of the UN Committee on the Right of the Child in January-February 2012.

"A very good dialogue was formed while discussing the rights of child in Azerbaijan at this Committee. The work of Azerbaijan in this sphere was assessed positively. Opinions were also made on some deficiencies.

As the result of these discussions, a document consisting of recommendations and observations of the Committee was submitted to the Azerbaijani side. And our today's discussion is associated with this issue."
