The political parties, rules of their registration, including criteria
of financial political organizations by the state were reflected in
world practice, which Azerbaijan rely upon.
The statement came from deputy chairman, executive secretary of the
ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov, while expressing his attitude
to a number of aspects related to the new bill ‘On political parties’
expected to be adopted. They are related to raising the minimal number
of members of the political parties from 1,000 to 3,000-5,000 people for
registration which will lead to the demise of ‘family’ parties.
Ahmadov noted that the registration of small parties or creation of
conditions and opportunities for their activity was sufficiently
reflected in world practice.
He noted that the activity of the parties which enjoy no public support is senseless.
"It is all senseless. These parties bring benefit to neither founders
nor the society. In this respect, we consider existence and activity of
the parties which gain public support more appropriate. Meanwhile, the
best way out for the parties that are unable to build their activity
would be self-dismissal", Ahmadov said.
