Cavusoglu: We have not yet seen a positive step from Sweden and Finland

“We understand the security concerns of Sweden and Finland,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said at the joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu in Tallinn, SİA informs.

He said a trilateral agreement was reached in Madrid: “We have fewer problems with Finland. However, we have not yet seen a positive step from any side, especially from Sweden.”

Cavusoglu reminded that the sides should understand each other’s concerns: “Turkiye is not against NATO enlargement. There is a single protocol for membership application of Sweden and Finland. I mean, the appeals of both states are reflected in the same document. However, if NATO considers their application separately, we’ll not be against it. As I said, we have fewer problems with Finland. It’s true, there are terrorists there too. But unlike Sweden, there are no provocations in Finland.”
