“2025 was a productive year for China–Azerbaijan relations," said Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan, during her speech at the annual press conference for 2025, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that the contributions of media representatives over the past year to the development of China–Azerbaijan relations and the strengthening of friendship between the two countries are highly appreciated.According to her, 2025 will be remembered as a “productive year” for China–Azerbaijan relations: “Under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, the quality of our relations has comprehensively improved and the pace of development has accelerated. Bilateral relations have reached the stage of a comprehensive strategic partnership, the highest level in history.”
Lu Mei noted that political mutual trust between the two countries has further strengthened, practical cooperation has yielded impressive results, and humanitarian exchanges have deepened.
The diplomat emphasized that the diplomacy of the heads of state has been an important driving force for the development of China–Azerbaijan relations: “As a result of the leaders’ reciprocal contacts this year, bilateral relations have entered a new stage. As part of President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April, important agreements were reached in discussions with President Xi Jinping on deepening cooperation in various fields. The heads of state signed a Joint Statement on the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership relations and witnessed the signing of 20 documents. This opened a new chapter in the development of China–Azerbaijan relations.”
The ambassador added that cooperation will continue in the future to further expand bilateral relations.
