International law expert appeals to US Senate over Menendez’s anti-Azerbaijan campaign
Azerbaijani international law expert Asaf Askar, who lives in Herford, Germany, has appealed to the US Senate for a deeper investigation into Senator Bob Menendez's anti-Azerbaijan campaign, according to the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan.
The appeal emphasized that Bob Menendez used foreign policy, human rights, and anti-corruption principles as political tools.
The appeal also noted that Bob Menendez not only maintained a biased stance against Azerbaijan and Türkiye but also compromised US national interests for personal gain.
In his appeal, Asaf Askar urged the US Congress to establish a special investigative commission to thoroughly examine Senator Menendez’s anti-Azerbaijan campaign. “I am confident that such investigation will uncover even more serious corruption cases,” he stated.
Bob Menendez served as a member of the US House of Representatives, US Senate, and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In January 2025, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges of corruption and bribery. Throughout his political career, he openly supported Armenia's interests and maintained a hostile position against Azerbaijan.
