Over 600 Egyptian Pilgrims Die During Hajj Visit in Saudi Arabia

At least 600 Egyptian pilgrims have tragically lost their lives during the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, SIA reports citing a diplomat from the Arab country.

"The deaths occurred due to heat-related causes," stated a source from the AFP news agency.

Earlier, AFP had reported that during the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, 550 pilgrims, including 323 Egyptians, had died due to overcrowding. Often, deaths among pilgrims are attributed to extreme heat or being trampled. This year in Mecca, temperatures reached up to 52 degrees Celsius during the Hajj season.
