Powerful fire erupts at Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant owned by Putin-connected Oligarch

As previously reported, a strong fire broke out at the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant in Russia after a series of explosions on the night of February 24. It has been revealed that the owner of this facility is an oligarch close to Putin.

The conversation revolves around one of Russia's wealthiest oligarchs, Vladimir Lisin, SIA refers to Channel 24's report on the matter.

Insiders noted that Vladimir Lisin is the owner of the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Plant, Russia's largest steel plant. The Russian oligarch, according to Forbes, is one of the three richest men in the country.

Lisin's fortune increased from $18.4 billion to around $22 billion during the war era.

Earlier, journalists from "Azadlıq" radio drew attention to the fact that Lisin, not subject to Western sanctions, continued to fulfill government orders related to the penitentiary service after Russia's extensive occupation of Ukraine.

Lisin's plant supplied steel to Russia's state nuclear weapon manufacturers at least until 2019. In 2022-2023, the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Plant won tenders at least 8 times to supply steel to Russian state institutions.
