Türkiye to have new low-cost airline

Turkish Airlines has spun off its subsidiary AnadoluJet low-cost carrier into AJet Air Transport Joint Stock Company, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said, SİA informs via Russian media.

The new carrier was registered on July 14, 2023. AJet, experts suggest, will have the opportunity to compete with Easyjet or Ryanair.

Türkiye's lack of a full-fledged low-cost airline made it difficult to compete with other Mediterranean countries, since up to half of Europeans heading to Spain, for example, flew with such carriers.

ATOR noted that travelers are primarily interested in the tariffs offered by the carrier, and not what their business model is called.
