Ahmad Ismayilov: Strengthening Azerbaijan's leading position worldwide enriches media agenda
Azerbaijan's rapid development and strengthening of its leading position in the world, in turn, enriches the media's agenda, according to Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency (MEDIA), Report informs.
Ismayilov made the remark at a conference titled "The role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in media development" held in Baku on July 8.
According to him, this also encourages the media to align its work with the country's dynamic pace of development:
"Increasing the professionalism of the media and strengthening its economic foundations have been priorities of the information policy at all stages of Azerbaijan's state development. As indicated in the President's Decree 'On celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press,' the reforms that began shortly after our victory in the Patriotic War, including the adoption of the 'Law on Media,' aimed at adapting media activities to the challenges of the digital era and improving our country's information environment."
The executive director stated that the application of tax exemptions, the elimination of value-added tax for newspapers and magazines, providing journalists with the opportunity to benefit from preferential mortgage loans, and other measures have ensured the continuity of efforts to strengthen the economic independence of information resources and improve the social protection of journalists:
"Today, our media, as an active participant in Azerbaijan's progress and the process of building a modern society, has expanded its international relations and influence in the global information space, and increased its competitiveness. The memory of Heydar Aliyev will live forever in the history of the Azerbaijani press and in the hearts of journalists, and media representatives will always remember this great personality with gratitude."
