An agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and the Maldives to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, service, and official passports takes effect on June 18.
The agreement was originally signed on November 15, 2024, in Baku as part of COP29, during a meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Maldivian counterpart, Abdulla Shahid.
The agreement was approved by the Azerbaijani National Assembly on December 27, 2024, and later ratified by the President of Azerbaijan.
The document is aimed at further strengthening and expanding the friendly relations between the two nations by facilitating easier travel for citizens holding diplomatic or official status.
Under the new rules, holders of valid diplomatic, service, or official passports from both countries will be allowed to enter, exit, transit through, and stay in the other country visa-free for up to 90 days from the date of entry.
