The visa requirement for holders of ordinary passports from Japan and South Korea traveling to Azerbaijan for tourism has been waived from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, the State Migration Service told SİA.
The measure was introduced to facilitate travel, strengthen bilateral cooperation, and promote tourism development.
Under the new rules, citizens of the two countries may enter Azerbaijan without a visa up to three times during the specified period, with each stay lasting no more than 30 days.
Those planning to visit Azerbaijan for purposes other than tourism or intending to remain in the country for an extended period must obtain the appropriate visa in accordance with national legislation.
Foreign nationals staying in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days are required to register at their place of stay in accordance with the Migration Code. In addition, those wishing to extend their temporary stay or obtain a temporary residence permit, where permitted under the law, must apply to the State Migration Service before their authorized period of stay expires. Applications may be submitted in person through the Migration Services window at ASAN Service centers or electronically via the Electronic Services section of the Service's official website.
