Azerbaijan Railways will extend the advance ticket sales period for trains operating on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route from the current 30 days to 90 days, Azer Farajov, head of the company's passenger transportation department, said.
SİA quotes Farajov as saying the decision was made in response to growing demand. He also noted that tickets are available both online and at railway ticket offices.
Since November 2024, a dynamic pricing system has been in place, allowing passengers who purchase tickets 25–30 days before departure to benefit from lower fares.
"This not only makes it easier for passengers to plan their trips, but also enables ADY to assess demand in advance and take appropriate measures, such as scheduling additional services or adding extra carriages to trains," Farajov said, noting that additional carriages were added to the route on June 11.
He said the main reason for strong demand on the Tbilisi–Baku route is Azerbaijan's entry regulations: foreign nationals may leave the country by any form of land transport, but can enter only by train or air.
"Tickets for the Baku–Tbilisi train are in high demand and sell out quickly once they become available. Therefore, we recommend that passengers regularly check ticket availability for their preferred travel dates," Farajov added.
