By 2030, it is planned to purchase 300 new wagons for the Baku metro, said Emil Ahmadov, the advisor to the chairman of the Baku Metropolitan CJSC, during a press briefing, SİA reports.
He mentioned that it is not yet known from which country the carriages will be purchased:
"Negotiations are ongoing. Once an agreement is reached with one of the European countries, the wagons will be purchased."
He also noted that starting from this year, the separation of the Red and Green lines of the Baku metro is planned: "This will allow each line to operate independently, increasing the efficiency of management and the quality of passenger transportation. To this end, a tunnel approximately 200 meters long will be constructed between the Jafar Jabbarli and Nizami stations, and the lines will be separated and operate independently. To ensure more efficient regulation of passenger flow, an additional passage will also be built between the 28 May and Jafar Jabbarli stations."
E. Ahmadov stated that one of the major projects is the construction of the Darnagul electric depot: "This depot will meet all the standards and ensure the independent operation of the Green line. At the same time, two new substations will be built near the Nizami and Jafar Jabbarli stations for sustainable energy supply, and the outdated traction substation of the Red line will be renovated. Additionally, the turning of trains will be ensured at the Icherisheher and Khatai stations. At the conclusion of the line separation project, the timetable will be optimized, intervals will be reduced, and the efficiency of passenger transportation will increase. As a result, the intervals on the Red line will decrease to 2 minutes, and on the Green line, to 2 minutes and 30 seconds."
