S. Korean president's approval rating falls to record-low 16 pct: poll

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating fell 3 percentage points over the week to 16 percent this week, the lowest since he took office in May 2022, a weekly poll showed Friday, SİA reports.

According to local pollster Gallup Korea, the negative assessment on Yoon's conduct of state affairs gained 3 percentage points to 75 percent.

Support for the ruling conservative People Power Party dived 5 percentage points from a week earlier to 27 percent this week.

The main liberal opposition Democratic Party's popularity rating advanced 4 percentage points to 37 percent.

The minor left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party posted 7 percent of support score this week, while the minor center-right New Reform Party logged 2 percent of approval score.

The results were based on a survey of 1,001 voters conducted from Tuesday to Thursday. It had plus and minus 3.1 percentage points in margin of error with a 95-percent confidence level.
