The State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs in Azerbaijan has reported that 58 men fell victim to gender-based violence in the year 2024.
Report informs, citing the committee, that the hotline dedicated to gender violence received a total of 330 complaints throughout the year, with 272 calls from women and a surprising 58 from men. The geographic distribution of the callers revealed that 205 individuals reached out from the capital city of Baku, while 125 calls originated from various regions across the nation.
The marital status of the complainants painted a complex picture of the issue, with 137 individuals being married, 140 single, and 53 divorced at the time of their call. This data suggests that gender-based violence transcends the boundaries of marital status and affects individuals from all walks of life.
