At a Novruz event in the United States, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Rebecca Zimmerman conveyed congratulations of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to Azerbaijan and other countries that celebrate Novruz, SİA informs, citing the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington.
Zimmerman also noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic and defense relations with most of these countries, and hailed the contribution to strengthening regional cooperation and promoting peace and stability.
She thanked the Central Asian countries and other partner states, including Turkic nations, for supporting the stability of Afghanistan during the 20 years of US military operations in Afghanistan. Zimmerman stressed the need for unity for justice and peace more than ever.
