Unknown hackers gained access to the personal data of nearly 3 million people registered in Pentagon databases, SİA reports, citing ABC News.
According to the report, a cyberattack on a human resources data center compromised information belonging to 2.76 million living individuals and approximately 294,000 deceased people. The hackers reportedly gained access to information including Social Security numbers and details about the roles of military and civilian personnel, raising national security concerns.
ABC News reported that the hackers had access to the data center from October 2025 until July 2026, after which the Pentagon fixed the vulnerability in its system.
The center stores information on more than 60 million people, including active-duty military personnel, reservists, civilian employees, veterans, contractors and family members of service personnel.
The Pentagon has so far found no evidence that the hackers have misused the compromised data.
