Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree restricting the export of cash rubles by individuals from Russia to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
According to SİA, the relevant document was published on Russia's official legal information portal.
Under the decree, individuals are prohibited from exporting more than 1 million rubles ($11,851) in cash to the listed countries. For legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, the restriction applies regardless of the amount.
Exceptions are provided for cash exports through designated international airports in Russia, provided that bank statements or other supporting documents are presented. The list of such documents will be determined by the Russian government.
The restrictions also do not apply to currency exported by legal entities as part of international transportation, provided that its import into Russia is confirmed. Another exception applies to exports based on a notification from the Russian Foreign Ministry for the activities of Russian diplomatic and consular missions and representative offices.
If the restriction is violated, the cash rubles are subject to confiscation. For individuals, the amount exceeding 1 million rubles will be seized, while for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, the entire amount will be subject to confiscation.
The Russian government, together with the Central Bank, has been instructed to establish within one month a procedure for accounting for exported cash currency.
The decree enters into force on the day it is signed.
