An Event on the Integration of Children with Disabilities into Society and the Presentation of the “CHED” Mobile Application Held at the Central Customs Hospital

On September 25, 2026, an event on “The Integration of Children with Disabilities into Society and the Presentation of the ‘CHED’ Mobile Application” was held at the Central Customs Hospital, organized by the Scientific-Practical and Training Center of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee.
The event was attended by Ismayil Afandiyev, Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee; Nahida Mahmudova, Deputy Head of the Central Customs Hospital; Gwendolyn Burchell MBE, Founder of United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) and Member of the Order of the British Empire; as well as pediatricians, neonatologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, and residents of the Central Customs Hospital.
The main objective of the event was to discuss the integration into society of children with disabilities and children requiring special care, including children with autism spectrum disorders; early screening of child development; and the possibilities of integrating the “CHED” mobile application, a digital healthcare solution, into medical practice.
In his opening remarks, Ismayil Afandiyev, Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of integrating people with disabilities into society, as well as creating community-based centers and rehabilitation opportunities for them. He highlighted the important role of pediatricians, neonatologists, and obstetrician-gynecologists in early intervention and diagnosis. He also expressed his appreciation to the organizers for introducing the digital tool and emphasized its significance in terms of digital healthcare.
During her presentation, Sabina Kaymak, a representative of UAFA, provided detailed information on the functionality of the “CHED” mobile application, designed for children aged 0–6. The presentation addressed the use of the digital tool as a medical pilot project, its integration into the professional workflow of specialists, and its adaptation to national protocols.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion. During the discussion, Telman Atayev, Head of the Pediatrics Department of the Central Customs Hospital and pediatrician-neonatologist, as well as pediatricians and neonatologist-resuscitation specialists Tarana Goyushova and Aygun Sadigova, shared their questions, views, and suggestions regarding the practical use of the mobile application, its clinical effectiveness, and its impact on the rehabilitation process of children.
The event concluded with answers to participants’ questions and a discussion of prospects for future cooperation.
