Ramiz Rzayev: Climate change is serious challenge for humanity

Climate change poses a grave challenge to humanity, Ramiz Rzayev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Judges' Union, said at the opening ceremony of the international conference titled "Law and Climate" held in Baku, Azerbaijan, Report informs.

Rzayev stated that the Azerbaijan Judges' Union, a union of active and retired judges in the country, aims to strengthen the independence of judges and support the deepening of judicial and legal reforms.

He emphasized, "We always draw the attention of the legal community to the processes taking place in our country and the world, and organize discussions on pressing issues."

It is well known that climate change is a serious challenge for our world. Rzayev noted, "These changes have a significant impact on people's rights, way of life, and overall well-being."

According to Rzayev, Azerbaijan takes a serious approach to international cooperation in preventing climate change.

"Azerbaijan is hosting a prestigious international event such as COP29 this year, and by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, 2024 declared “Green World Solidarity Year” in Azerbaijan," the chairman said.

He also pointed out that it is a source of pride for everyone to know that historic steps for climate change will be taken in Baku together with other partner states in a few months.
