Three journalists have been arrested in Turkey. They are suspected of participation in underground anti-government organization Ergenekon. Now the detained journalists are expecting court hearings on the case of their participation in plotting Turkish Government overthrow. Soner Yalçın, has been arrested together with two of his employees. This incident caused the U.S. Ambassador, Francis Richardone’s criticism. He is preoccupied with freedom of press in Turkey.
The journalists are suspected of preparation of coup d’état in Turkey in 2003. It is believed that Ergenekon organization stands behind this plan. The organization includes many high-ranking and influential people, mainly military.
