AFFA objects to participation of separatist Nagorno-Karabakh football team in world championship among unrecognised countries
The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) has field a protest with the Confederation of Independent Football Federations (ConiFA) after it invited a football team from the separatist regime of the Nagorno-Karabakh to compete in the world championship among unrecognised countries due to take place in Sweden in June.
In its letter of protest, AFFA says: "The Nagorno-Karabakh is an Azerbaijani land occupied by Armenia."
"The Nagorno-Karabakh has not been recognized by any state or any international organization."
AFFA says it protests against the participation of a team representing the occupied Azerbaijani land in the championship.)
Football`s governing body in Azerbaijan sent similar letters to the Swedish Football Federation and FIFA.
